The Rampage is coming up. Last year I was all tied up with the Vision Quest and missed out on this local XC event…no luck this year. I’ll be in town and reasonably healthy so it’s time for something I haven’t done in 4 years – a XC event.
The last time I held a NORBA license was ’05 (semi-pro). The last XC event was the Crested Butte classic, and I missed the start time by 10 minutes so got to play catch up all day. That pretty much summed up how I felt about XC racing at the time…the enduro craze had already taken firm hold.
Question for the local crowd: where do I belong in the local fields? Age group experts? SS? Pro? I’m inclined towards the pro field mostly because they do 4 laps. I need the longest race possible! Anyway, those of you that have ridden with me I figure will have a better idea than I do…
Here’s today’s ride doing 3 laps of the course. Fun stuff in the backyard!
i havn’t had the pleasure of riding with you yet, but i say give them at least a chance and ride your SS in the pro’s.
i’m sure you’ll smoke them!!
I’ve been toying with the idea of a endurace racing bike prep, maintenace, and SNAFU primer. Think it would be well recieved or worth it?
Try beginner and scare them all.
Can you believe that I have only done one XC (doing loops like a hamster=XC right?) race ever in the states?
Pro, duh! Anything to keep you out of the expert 40+ cat.
Belated vote for not the 12th for the Paunsaugunt race, I’ve got a foot ultra in Bozeman on the 11th. Any other weekend and I shall be there.
Simple: if racing with gears, race as Pro. Is racing “single & ready to mingle”, race SS.
Ummm…. PRO! doy.
