The Dixie-Lite 168 Mile Self-Supported Mountain Bike Race

The Dixie Lite is a self-supported 168 mile mountain bike route in southern Utah. The race will begin at 8am from Woods Ranch, the Virgin River Rim trailhead East of Cedar City on UT 14. The Dixie 311 and Dixie Lite riders will all start together.

The route includes the complete Virgin River Rim Trail, much of the Paunsaugunt Plateau including Thunder Mountain, a scenic climb from near Hatch to the Spruce trail at ~ 10,000', the Marathon Trail, and finishes with a short section of the VRRT. Elevations vary between 6,500' and 10,500'. Very little hike a bike, lots of trail, lots of views.

Download the complete route GPX file. This zip file contains a complete route GPX, a file for each segment, and a waypoint file. Note: due to lingering snowpack above 10,500' the route has been significantly changed from the original plan, including the start and finish location, the inclusion of the Virgin River Rim Trail in its entirety, and the addition of a short section of the Spruce trail. This GPX file is the final version for 2010, other parts of this website may not reflect the recent changes. This map does reflect the recent changes for both the 311 and Dixie Lite. You can assess the resupply options here. The DLite is kind in this regard! Ice cream at Navajo Lodge, dinner in Hatch, breakfast at Harold's place, dinner at Panguitch Lake...
